I’m a writer and researcher who loves travel, archaeology, history, Latin dancing, horseback riding, and of course, working with miniatures. I especially love miniature projects that bring history and literature to life.
One of my first projects was building a small dollhouse for my elderly mother, designed to portray her Depression-era home on the banks of the Quiver River in Sunflower County, Mississippi. She took a lot of pleasure in helping me with this “reconstruction” project, which included selecting family photo portraits which I shrank down, framed and hung on the living room walls of my miniature creation. Her memories of her childhood home also guided me in choosing appropriate furnishings for a farmhouse from that day, including a miniature radio around which family would have gathered to hear Roosevelt’s fireside chats.
I live in Athens, Georgia when I’m not traveling. Through this blog, I look forward to hearing from other miniaturists and sharing my own miniature obsession with like-minded folks.
